"1002" error when trying to pair Apple Watch as a Family Member
If anyone is coming across a "Could not contact Icloud Family" error when trying to pair an Apple watch by adding a family member, its likely due to your Icloud account. It sounds obvious, but Apple phone support, Apple Genius Bar and my phone carrier made us jump through many hoops thinking it was an issue with the watch.
At the end, we just decided to create a new Icloud account and it worked. IE. Our original Icloud account was corrupt and could not pair the watch as a family member.
