Apple’s own OS and apps do not do Chromecast (Google Cast). Instead they use AirPlay, a somewhat competing protocol. Unless your TV is AirPlay-enabled, you won’t be able to stream to it from your Apple device (e.g. Mac/iPhone/iPad). Select third party iOS apps may support Chromecast on an app level, i.e. only for that app.

To bring AirPlay compatibility to your TV, if not enabled from the factory, you may connect an external streaming device, such as the Apple TV box, or a recent Roku (Roku OS 9.4/10.0 or later, depending on device model).

Alternatively, you may be able to connect a Mac through HDMI, to use the TV as a (2nd) Mac screen.
