Unlocked Iphone or not

I am planning to buy Iphone 13 pro from apple's website. I will take this phone to Bangladesh for one of my friend. Is it unlocked phone if I buy it with full cash? Without any carrier's offer?

Yes, if you buy it from Apple and pay the full price it will not be carrier locked. However, it will not have a warranty in Bangladesh; if it ever needs repair by Apple or for a warranty-covered problem it will have to be returned to someone in the US, who can take it to Apple.

Apple's website in what country? They won't ship to a different country, if that's what you're thinking. If you really wish to buy an unlocked iPhone (let's say in the United States) the option would be "Connect on your own later" where it won't be tied to any particular cellular carrier. Others pointed out the drawbacks, but if you really want to do it, then it should work.

Ok now I understand everything. Thanks all for your effort. But he plans to buy it from USA despite all those odds and repair services.

That's fine as long as he knows what the limitations are. I've personally been at an Apple Store where I overheard customers asking about whether or not phones were carrier unlocked and that they intended on taking it to another country to be used. I get it, especially when other countries have limits on what they features are allowed on devices. For instance, I've been told that mobile devices sold in South Korea are required to have a clearly audible sound when a photo is taken to avoid surreptitious image taking. Some people would find that unacceptable. Or limitations on certain Apple features like FaceTime.

No, both the warranty and AppleCare service, as well as out-of-warranty repairs, are only available in the country where the iPhone was first sold. There is one exception: The European Union is considered one “country” for repair purposes. The reason for the restriction is iPhones are not international; as different countries have different standards for radio equipment there are different models for each country, and the repair facilities in a country will only have parts for phones sold in that country.

Apple and Apple authorized service providers have the option of doing simple repairs such as screen or battery replacement, but they are not required to by Apple. Some will do these repairs as a courtesy to users.

Apple doesn't necessarily have repair facilities in some countries. They just do complete swaps for anything, including battery replacement. And the refurb process might be back in the factory. But absolutely they wouldn't be allowed to distribute a device that doesn't meet a country's regulatory standards.

I remember one discussion of someone from the Philippines mentioning that the only OEM option for battery replacement was a complete swap at a fairly high price. But then he reported that he was able to get a new battery installed in another country with Apple Stores - night have been Singapore or Hong Kong. Seems reasonable to me, but of course there are no guarantees.

If he goes to Apple care in any other country, won't they repair it? or it must be repaired from apple care, USA?

It's unlikely that warranty service would be done in another country. But paid repair is another matter. And one issue is that a lot of what Apple does for service in some countries is just complete swaps where an Apple Authorized Service Provider is really just an exchange agent. The customer gets a replacement device that's equivalent, and they send off the exchanged device to see if it can be fixed up to put back in service.

I get that unlocked iPhones originally sold in the United States are popular. But unless they go back to the United States, they might be stuck with third party repair in the future . That's just the way things are.
