Group Message: reactions e.g. “haha” gets sent to individuals instead of the group chat

I accidentally deleted a group message from my messages. I received another message so thought I was back in it which I wanted to be.

When I reacted to a message by clicking “haha” or the thumbs up it then got sent individually to all the members of the chat.

I don’t want to annoy other members like that.

I tried to leave the group and get added back but now I can’t leave the group when I go into information. The button just is not there.

Please assist.

From your post it sounds like you are trying to leave the group text message and get added again. We’re glad that you reached out to the Apple Support Communities and want to try and help get you some helpful information.

We were able to track down some information that could explain why this is happening:

“You can leave a group text message as long as there are three other people on the thread and everyone is using an Apple device, like an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you don't see the option to leave, it might mean that one or more of the users isn't using an Apple device with iMessage. If you can't leave a group text message, you can mute the conversation so you don't get notifications.”

If everyone there is using an Apple device but the issue is still occurring, please let us know.
