I have an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 15.2. So does my friend, "Stu".
When trying to Air Drop, the screen will show my contact "Stu" and other people "Stu phone". If I select the contact "Stu" nothing will send, but if I select other people "Stu phone" it will.
We both have Air Drop set to contacts only and both our Contact Cards say the phone number is an iPhone. Tried toggling wifi and bluetooth as well as hard reboots. No luck yet.
How do I fix this?

If that doesn't help, be sure neither of you are connected to or have the Hotspot feature turned on. Also, check for VPN or security software as that can block connections too: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues

Thank you TammyW. I followed those directions before posting. Just to clarify, the iphone numbers are the same numbers used for apple ids.
Hotspots are off.
No VPNs or security software enabled.
