Hello Jillht,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having questions about downloading apps on your Mac. We'd be happy to provide some guidance.

If you would like to download apps for your Mac, you need to use the Mac App Store. Different apps have different versions according to the device you're using. For example, for the same game, there is a version for iOS devices like iPhone, or iPod, a version for iPad that runs iPadOS, and a version for Mac that runs macOS.

If you can't find the app you're looking for on the Mac App Store, then you'll have to look to see if the developers of this app are selling it directly on their website. Unlike iPhone, and iPad where you can only download apps via the App Store.

Hello Jillht,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details. It looks like you're trying to download and play Apple Arcade games on your Mac. We'd be happy to help.

  1. "In the App Store on your Mac, click Arcade in the sidebar.
  2. Search or browse for a game.
  3. Select the game, then click Get.
  4. The game is downloaded to the Applications folder on your Mac. It’s also available in Launchpad. See Use Launchpad to view and open apps.

Games you download remain in your Applications folder until you delete them."
