How to save music in iCloud without subscription?

Hi There,

I just subscribed to iCloud yesterday. Currently wishing I hadn't.....

I would like to back up my music files (I've paid for the storage so why not?).

These are 98% from my CDs, not purchased through Apple Music/iTunes.

I have no intention of taking out a paid subscription Apple Music (which does an automatic backup as I understand). I don't buy music from Apple.

However, the iCloud says I can't upload folders, only files, meaning it seems I may have to do the mp3 files one by one, and they will be completely disorganised once done.

Has anyone found a sensible way to back up their 'iTunes Music' folder from their MacBook hard drive to iCloud?

I have found forums describing ways to do this using iTunes, but iTunes does not run on the newer operating systems.

Many Thanks

Hi,

Okay, let me ask this a different way. If I wish an off-site back-up of my music files, but iCloud won't allow it and Apple Music is not a back-up service, then how do I back up my music files?

(And I am afraid - what use is iCloud? ather expensive given it does not allow back-up of all my data, I will be cancelling the subscription).

Hi,

Icloud storage is not meant for music iCloud+ plans and pricing – Apple Support (UK) and Access and manage your files in iCloud Drive – Apple Support (UK).

Apple Music and iTunes Match use iCloud music library. Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music – Apple Support (UK). The music app replaced iTunes on MacOS Catalina or newer. What happened to iTunes? – Apple Support (UK). Whilst you will have cloud access, these subscriptions should not be regarded as back up services.

I suggest that you use Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support
