Extreme fear of my MacBook Pro being screen-recorded (from 2017-2018)
Hi,
This may not seem like a usual question but back in 2017-2018 I was using my MacBook Pro (2015) without any Antivirus installed expect for the ones MacOS already have. However it wasn't until 2019 that I read all these scary articles from IT experts talking about chances on Macs getting hacked and hackers gaining access to your desktop and record anything on the screen with Keyloggers. This had gave me severe anxieties and fears to the point of shivering and not being able to sleep at nights. I even had to see a psychiatrist. It is 2021 and my thoughts from back 2017-2018 about being hacked have come back and more severely. It is so terrifying knowing there is a probability of exploiting me by posting on the internet recorded videos of my desktop activities.
I have to admit that I never noticed anything weird going on with my mac since 2017 that would raise a red flag. Everything was working normal and no sign of compromised account etc. The only weird thing i noticed once is visiting a chatroom and there was another user in the same chatroom with my First and Last name as his username. How did he knew my legal name and why he joined while I was in? This has made me terrified thinking that maybe he was observing me (by accessing my desktop) while i was browsing on the internet and joined the chatroom immediately when i joined.
What I'm asking is how likely is for someone with a MacBook Pro back in 2017-2018 to get hacked (either cam or accessing desktop through keyloggers)? I assume that if hackers want to exploit/embarrass someone they won't wait for years to do it but they will most likely do it immediately. So far I haven't seen anything posted online about me. I apologize if this issues make someone uncomfortable but I am in a very desperate condition right now I don't know how to ease my mind :( :(
