I use airplane mode when charging my iPhone. Does this affect my FaceTime because ever since I have been doing it, my FaceTime hasn’t been working properly.

If you disconnect your phone from its data connection, it may cause FaceTime to become unregistered. Stop using airplane mode when you're charging your phone. Your phone will only charge about 10 minutes faster in airplane mode so it's just not worth the hassle.
