Airdrop on iPad Not Working

Hi there,


My iPad has, for some reason, stopped being able to send over Airdrop (though it can still receive). I have wireless switched on with both devices (iPad and MacBook Pro), and Share with Everyone checked. It's an iPad 8th Gen, I've had it over a year, and Airdrop's been working fine up until now (I use it regularly for work).


Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi PeterPan_2023, thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.


AirDrop is great to wirelessly beam almost anything from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to any other recent Apple device. I definitely use it wherever I can.


However, for AirDrop to suddenly stop working is certainly frustrating and because it uses WiFi and Bluetooth I wonder if you might try the following:


  • Please check that you iPad has the latest iPadOS https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204204
  • Turning off and on your WiFi and Bluetooth on your iPad as one option to see if that resolves your issue.
  • You may also want to consider restarting your WiFi router.
  • You may also want to consider resetting your network settings on your iPad. Point 7 in the following link will help https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204051
  • You may also want to consider restarting your iPad and the following link may help https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT210631


Hope this helps resolve your AirDrop issue.
