I have macOS Monterey. When I open the music app and click on iTunes Store, there is no search bar to search for new music to purchase.

That just takes me to search in my own library!! I can see Itunes store star icon which takes me to the store but still no option to search for specific songs! I am amazed that Itunes make it so difficult to buy songs, they must be losing billions in lost sales thru lousy software.

After spending about 20 minutes on trying to find a )(*&$)(@*&# search bar, I had to do a combination of 3 things from 3 different suggestions. In their quest to sell Apple Music Subscriptions (hard NO from me) they make it nearly impossible to just buy a few songs once in a while. It's irritating to your users, Apple. Making things harder to buy just makes us buy them elsewhere.
Sometimes the search bar is "hidden"
In Music click Command-F and the search bar should reappear.
Hey there dcexpress,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. To verify, if you search for the music you want to buy first and then click on iTunes Store, does that work? Take a look at the info under “Buy music from the iTunes Store in the Apple Music app on your Mac” from this article for more info on this:
Buy music from the iTunes Store
Let us know. Take care.
That did not work. What I did was go into the music app, click on music from drop down menu, preferences, general and de-select ITunes check box and then select again. After that I was able to select iTunes Store on the left side bar and then click on search box for music. Thank you!
When you type something in your library search bar, there should be an option on the top right to search either 'your library' or 'itunes store'
If you don't see that option, quit 'music' and re-open.
Worked for me.
Can't believe I didn't see it there in the first place!
