Can't Get GeoComply to Work

Hi,

I am trying to get GeoComply to find my location and it isn't working. I am able to download it successfully, but it's not being picked up by the websites that require it.  I have BigSur Version 11.6.2. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my computer, clearing my cache. The only thing I think I haven't tried is changing my DNS settings because it looked complicated. I'm just trying to figure out if it can be anything else, because I'm sure I'll change the DNS settings and it still won't work.

Hello ADreppin9,

It sounds like an app is not correctly showing your location on your Mac.

Here are some isolation steps and resources that can help:

  • When it comes to your network, if you have any VPN software, temporarily uninstall it and test again.

If it is isolated to just this app, check out this article from the developer GeoComply Help & FAQ's and contact them for assistance Contact US - NJ.

If it is related to your Wi-Fi, you may want to contact your internet provider for help.

If it happens in multiple apps and is not related to your Wi-Fi, Contact Apple Support or use this Get Support link for assistance.

Hope this information helps.

Have a good day.

ADreppin9,

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like you were able to get it working but you don't want to see the Location Services icon in the menu bar. You can turn the location icon in the menu bar off in System Services by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Location Services > System Services [Details] and turning off "Show location icon in menu bar when System Services request your location" at the bottom. Check out "Specify which apps and system services can use Location Services" in  Allow apps to detect the location of your Mac to learn more.

Cheers!
