No Airplay, Sidecar or Universal Control

I was trying to use sidecar on my mac and could not find an airplay option for it anywhere, the option for it in my settings would not allow me to use it either. I thought updating my software would help, but it did not.

I updated to Monterey and am experiencing the same issues. I cannot mirror my screen or any screen onto my mac, nor can I add new displays. There is no longer a sidecar option in my settings.

I have tried just about everything to figure out how to get it to work and nothing has. All my devices are up to date and listed as compatible.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.5

There isn't a Sidecar System Preference in Monterey. You just connect to it like mirroring on any other device.

You can connect to the iPad from the Control Center or from the Displays System Preferences. If it recognizes a compatible Airplay device on your network, it will show an Add Display popup menu in Displays, or under screen mirroring in the Control Center.

If it doesn't show up wirelessly, try connecting with a cable.

When Sidecar first came about, I ended up having to sign out of iCloud on both iPad and Mac, then sign back in to get Sidecar recognized. It wasn't arduous, but complicated with Desktop & Documents in iCloud Drive enabled.

When you connected iPad to Mac, did it ask to Trust each device (or did you do that before)?

My only other thoughts were confirming the Sidecar requirements. I didn't find an article that was Monterey specific listing requirements. But, sounds like you already did that.

This is what it is supposed to look like (those are AirPlay devices in my list, but an iPad or Mac should show the same).

Will signing out make me lose the information saved on my mac currently?

That's the sticky bit. You should not lose anything, but there's that whole trust thing.

When you sign out, it will ask if you want to save a copy on your Mac. You can choose to save the copy, but when you sign back in you will get duplicates. Or, you bite the bullet and hope that everything does come back when you sign back into iCloud. I didn't have any problems, but you are in limbo, hoping nothing goes wrong.

It should not make you lose any of your cloud data.

"A miscellaneous error occurred (32002)."

Like all the other advice, this doesn't work.

Apple broke it, and won't fix it.

If I had a choice, I would never have upgraded, but that's what all the 'advice' from apple & discussions & 3rd parties said to do.

Next time I'm going w/ Windows and Samsung, then I can share screens & music between devices. 15.2 can't even connect to a car.
