Is the only answer to texts or email or vm notifications stopping Spotify to have DND on or notifications off? I frequently want all those notifications but then I want Spotify to KEEP PLAYING after that. Major fail.

We understand that your music is being interrupted by notifications. You can enable one of the options you mentioned or you can turn off the sounds for your apps in Settings > Notifications. You would need to make this change for each app.
