Dad passed away. Can't wipe iPad due to Find My iPhone

Hey all. My dad passed away in Sept and left his iPad to us for his grandkids. Unfortunately I cannot wipe it because I didn't have the password and couldn't turn off the Find My iPhone. Is there any other way I can get it done? Would I have to take it into one of the stores? Thanks all!
