The option for spatial audio doesn't appear in the notification menu bar.
Not greyed out, just plain doesn't appear

ps - yes, I have tried resetting the AirPods, and PRAM reset, and OS is up to date

Are you currently listening to some form of audio on your Mac? If not, do you see the setting appear in that menu when you have a song/video playing? This setting may not be present without an audio source playing already.
