it says my 12.5.5 is already updated, and I need 13 or later

How can I update iPhone software when automatic update is on and indicates that my 12.5.5. software IS up to date. I need 13 or beyond to support my apps.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 12

The iPhone 6 Plus cannot be updated past iOS 12, the hardware isn't capable of running a newer version of iOS.

If you need a newer version of iOS, you will need to purchase a newer iPhone.
