I have the exact same problem. I just transferred data from my old Mac mini to my new Mac mini and the cursor is now frozen in the top left corner. I’ve tried rebooting several times and rebooting the mouse. I even tried connecting a track pad via usb. Nothing works. Help!
I just solved it. I plugged my Bluetooth Magic Mouse in to the mini and rebooted. Then I unplugged the mouse and that worked. Very strange.
Is the battery a rechargeable one? If not replace it. Suggest using a mouse to see if the trackpad is connected to bluetooth.
