The only devices in my house (no neighbours) are not connected to any hotspot or are turned off but my iPad mini 5 is showing somebody connected by green icon top right. Is it possible to find the name of connected device. I know how to change password. I just want to find the name of the mystery device.
iOS/iPadOS doesn’t natively expose details of devices connected to either the iPhone or iPad hotspot - presumably as when hosting a WiFi hotspot, the available range within which client devices can connect is relatively short.
If you have any concerns about unknown devices being able to access your hotspot, you should simply change the hotspot password.
Unless you have shared the password with anyone else, the only devices that can auto-discover and connect to your iPad or iPhone hotspot are Apple devices that are signed-in to iCloud with your AppleID.
Any devices signed-in to iCloud with your AppleID (although not necessarily using your device hotspot) will be visible via Settings:
Settings > [Your Name / AppleID]
Thank you for reply, only ipad, iphone, laptop & desktop showing. A bit more detail, I live in a remote area, the BT landline cannot achieve snail speed so rely on devices for connection via good mobile signal. Password has not been shared.
I just want to find who/what is connected, especially as I changed the password 2 days ago.
