Apple Watch Series 5 error message

I have received a "cellular update failed" message several times on my Apple Watch Series 5. As far as I can tell, it just happens with no particular app being used. When I check my iphone, the watch app says everything is up to date. There are no messages for the cellular service which seems to be working.
