OK, so these seem to be questions that have come up before but I can't find answers that relate to the Monterey update. Why am I stuck with an ugly white border around images and what happened to the resize slider.

Try a a safe boot to clear cache files—https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
reboot as normal to test.

Thank you, that fixed the white border issue. Still tying to find a way to get the resizing slider back but at least the gallery view is at max and no border👍
remove white frame and resize in Finder
