iphone 13 pro hd video not shooting in 1080p

I just got my iPhone 13 pro and I shot some video in 30fps at 1080p, however it seems to only be shooting in 720p despite the camera settings. Anyone have advice on how I can shoot in 1080p? I've attached a screenshot of my camera settings and a screenshot of the properties of the video.

Thanks for looking into it, IAmTheAllspark. It sounds like you're on the right track.

When it comes to iCloud, the conversions could simply be to maximize your storage. Instead of transferring your videos through iCloud, let's use these steps to Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch directly to your Windows PC. You can also enable iCloud for Windows to keep the full-resolution originals on your computer.

Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC

Take care!

Thanks for the reply.

I dug a little deeper into this...I shot the vids on the iPhone and then I downloaded them from iCloud (browser). It looks like there is some sort of conversion from .mov to .mp4 in the download process.

Steps taken:

  1. Shoot video on iPhone.
  2. Go to iCloud on PC browser
  3. Download video

Video DLs in .mp4 format at a lower resolution.

If you have any tips on how to prevent the conversion/compression from iCloud, please let me know.

Thanks for reaching out, IAmTheAllspark.

It sounds like you are having some trouble with the resolution of your videos. We can help.

On iPhone, with the settings you've shown us, we would expect a .MOV file to be created. However, it looks like on your Mac, the file has been converted to an .MP4 file instead. Could you confirm for us how you transferred the file, and if there were any conversion steps you took? It is possible that resolution may have been reduced during the conversion, and we'll want to rule that out first.

Keep us posted.

We are here for you.
