Preferences

Thanks for letting me know about going to Preferences to get to settings. However, that leads me to the next question how do I get to preferences? I do not know anything about this Mac. I am very new to it.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

Click the Apple icon at the top left of the screen, then click "System Preferences ..."
