How to carrier unlock my iphone with OS Big Sur?

I contacted my wireless provider to unlock my iPhone X.

No problem, they said it's done but to complete the process I need to connect my phone to a computer running iTunes and it will download automatically from there.

The problem is my Macbook Pro is running OSX 11.6 Big Sur and iTunes isn't supported anymore.

Any suggestions how to do this? I tried just plugging the phone into the laptop but nothing happened.

Can this update to the carrier settings/lock be done on the phone itself or do I really need a computer to do this? Seems a bit backwards if so.

Appreciate any help.

Hi there dbazlim,

We understand your iPhone X was unlocked by your carrier. We'd like to share a resource that can help.

Check it out here: How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier

Specifically, the sections below may help:

"If you have a SIM card from a carrier other than your current carrier

Use these steps to finish unlocking your iPhone:

  1. Remove your SIM card.
  2. Insert the new SIM card. Your device will activate.

If you don't have another SIM card to use

Use these steps to finish unlocking your iPhone:

  1. Back up your iPhone.
  2. After you make a backup, erase your iPhone.
  3. Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made."

Cheers!
