Change Country or Region is it mandatory? Warranty also regional limited?

Recently I plan to move out from my current country in Asia to Europe due to certain personal issue and it is something that I need to do. Personally I love Apple product and I use a lot of their product lines from laptop, mobile, watch etc. I am aware of apple region or country on my profile setting but I never really changed it since I own Apple products couple years ago.

I've tried to google any information but still not firm about what to do thus I write this thread and hope some experience users in the community or any official answer can be given here.

  1. I will bring all of my apple products to Europe and have no plan to replace it for at least next 12 months. My MacBook just recently shows an indicator for battery service but my CC still under 500 and so far it can survive 8 hours from 100% to drop. I am not sure I need to replace the battery here any soon. If I do this battery replacement in Germany, would my guarantee still cover it? if it out of warranty will they able to fulfill my request to replace it? I read it would cost me around USD 129 equivalent to their Euro currency for my battery case here.
  2. I have tons of movies purchased on my Apple account. Some info I read, I need to redownload everything before switching region? Why? Will I lose all my purchased movies, app and songs? This is insane. That's the purpose of movie streaming, no need storage to download.
  3. Related to question number 2 above, let's say I switch from Indonesian account to German region. Then decide to move back to Indonesian account one day since I am not sure yet how long I will be there in Germany. Could be less than 5 years I have no idea, will all my purchased items on Indonesian account still there by the time I switch my region back?
  4. Is this mandatory when you move country for quite some times that you MUST change your region? With the risk of losing all purchased items I prefer to keep my Indonesian account even in Germany?
  5. Is it true if you don't switch your region then your local apps or anything can't be updated? This is totally impractical and not consumer oriented way of approach. Not everyone moving country permanently right.
  6. Just an idea of workaround here, once I move to Germany I gonna create a German account and I can switch between Indonesian and German account in one device whenever I need. Anyone have any experience or issue with this method?

If all/most the answers above totally uncool or satisfactorily acceptable. Then sorry apple, I think I need to use my Android back in Europe. I still using Android until now as secondary phone only.

Hello, Kazuo_Gutenberg.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

For your question about the MacBook battery, review this article for additional information: Get help with your Mac notebook battery

Apple provides a 1-year limited warranty for products and international repairs may be available. You can review the warranty details here: Legal - Hardware Warranties - Apple It may be best to contact Apple Support directly or the service center to find out more options:

For changing region, these two articles have details on what to expect:

Change your Apple ID country or region

"Make sure that you have a payment method for your new country or region. See what payment methods you can use.

Redownload your apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books on any devices that you might use to play or read them in the future. That's because some types of content might not be available in your new country or region. (Learn what types of content and services are available in your new country or region.)"

Availability of Apple Media Services

"Depending on your country or region, you might not be able to buy, download, or subscribe to certain types of media. The availability and features of certain apps, movies, and more can vary. If you think an app or other media should be available in your country or region, contact the developer or publisher directly."

All of your purchases are tied to your Apple ID: Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple

"Purchased Content will generally remain available for you to download, redownload, or otherwise access from Apple. Though it is unlikely, subsequent to your purchase, Content may be removed from the Services (for instance, because the provider removed it) and become unavailable for further download or access from Apple. To ensure your ability to continue enjoying Content, we encourage you to download all purchased Content to a device in your possession and to back it up."

You'll need to have valid payment information for the region your account is tied to. As mentioned earlier, some content may not be available in certain regions. You may not be able to update an app if that app isn't available in the region your account is tied to if you changed your region. Otherwise if the app is available in your accounts region, it should be able to update unless there are network issues that may prevent this.

For your suggestion, using another Apple ID for a different region would be possible, just keep in mind there is no way to merge purchases between Apple IDs and all purchases are tied to that Apple ID only.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Cheers!
