How can I find my sons phone if he’s not on family sharing

It sounds like you want to have the ability to see you son’s iPhone location, and you do not have a Family Sharing group set up.

For sharing location, you can do this without Family Sharing. See the article Find friends and share your location with Find My. It will go over the steps for setting up Share My Location.

If you are referring to locating your son’s iPhone if it has been lost or stolen, you can help track the iPhone if your son had Find My iPhone enabled. See If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen for the steps to follow.
