iMovie timeline marker notation

How, if possible, can I leave a note or at least a number on a marker (command M) on the iMovie timeline?

Move the playhead to where you want to place the marker in the timeline, and either press m on the keyboard or do Mark/Add Marker from the iMovie menu at the top of the screen. That will place a marker, but you won't be able to add any other notation, such as text. To add text, you would need to use one of the titles and place it in the clip. Or create a text on a transparent background with the Preview app on your Mac, that you could overlay onto the clip with the Picture in Picture feature.
