No Window or Option to Enter the 2 Factor Authentication on VERSION 5.1.1 iPad

Hello,

I found my old iPad (like 4 ago ...) and instead of junking it, I'd like to use it to run some basic apps in a media room. The issue is while I can begin the log in process on it with my mac id and password, it brings up the dialogue box that tells me to center the 6 digit code. The code appears on my other Apple devices with no issue. The problem is there is no dialogue box on the iPad to get past that point.

Am I missing something? Anyone have a solutions? I connected it to my MacBook Pro with the cable in hopes of verfiying that way but still requires the authentication code.

Thanks!

Will

See the following from Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.
