Is the voice memo app resident on the iPhone 6s or must I download ?

How do I record audio ? Is there an app always on the phone or must I download an app ??

You can use the Voice Memo app for any audio recordings. You can check this Apple Support page: Make a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone – Apple Support

If you do not want to use Voice Memo, you can look for an alternative on App Store. Simply use the keywords "Audio recorder".
