My iphone is not responding to touch. I can't turn it off because it does not respond to the to let me slide to turn it off

Press the volume up button quickly, followed by volume down button, then hold the power button until the screen shuts off to force restart the phone. Not sure if it will help with the touch problem but it will restart your phone for you and might help

i tried pushing the volume button up and then down and then the button on the right and volume button to turn off as suggested but still not working.

I have the same problem & followed the same steps. The problem is that I don't even get the option of a slider - the entire screen is black.
