I opened an email trying to delete it and clearly it was a scam type email within it it had ‘mime’ downloads which I did not click on but as quick as possible I deleted the whole thing - just worried I may have downloaded a virus or have enabled a hacker to gain access on my iPhone ?

So it’s totally fine. iOS sandboxes applications etc., and there are no vulnerabilities in the public domain that the scammers could have potentially exploited.

No, you are totally fine, it’s an iPhone. You didn’t click a link either by the sounds of things…
No I didn’t click on anything but it kind of looked like they were trying to download as I deleted everything 🤔 I hate anything like this - always worries me - thank you for your reply
