Memoji icon

Hi, I can see this has been asked before, but I still can't find a solution to the disappearing Memoji icon on FaceTime/iMessage. It was there yesterday and not today, my daughter isn't happy!! She can't use the memoji filter on her imessage/video calls (first world problems), her phone was compatible, even though it's older (iPhone 8).

I've searched the app store, the app drawer, I've checked restrictions and keyboard settings, she is on the latest update (she wasn't, but I was hoping there was a fix in the latest update. I'm at a loss as what to do.

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?
