How to stop wasting time with mail encryption?

So I have a client that is getting messages about Mail not able to verify the authenticity of the certificate provided by her email address. This article talks about how encryption in mail works: Sign or encrypt emails in Mail on Mac

I think Steve Jobs, who pushed for the original Mac to boot faster to save people time, would be rolling in his grave knowing that people are being told to waste time playing with a little lock on their emails.

How do you turn this whole encryption thing off?

"These are certificates generated at the users end between her and those she emails to ensure that they "prove" who each other is."

Um... no They are not "generate at the users end".

If the clients personal certificate is invalid, they need to get it renewed or get a new one from the issuing authority.

Invoking the ghost of Steve Jobs to complain about a problem that has absolutely nothing to do with Apple is not going to win you any good feelings here.

Tell your "client" to talk to her email provider. The server certificate is invalid or expired. That means that mail can not verify that anything sent or received using that server I legitimate at all.
