Enable find my iPhone without enabling erasing

Is it possible to enable find my iPhone to be able to ring/locate my phone without allowing for remote erasure?

Technically no. When enabling Find My on the iPhone both options are available to perform from the iCloud website.

But unless you actually engage the remote erasure option, it does not automatically happen.

Do note, Find My must be turned on directly on the iPhone. It cannot be turned on remotely.
