battery repair

The system advice I need to repair my battery(have cycle 330) but I not sure how cycle I need to repair my battery.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.4

Unfortunately "Service Recommended" is a vague condition Apple introduced into macOS with macOS 11.x+ (perhaps a late version of 10.15.x). It is now very hard to determine if this condition indicates a battery hardware failure, or whether the battery's Full Charge Capacity has dropped below 80% of the original Design Capacity. You can use the Coconut Battery app to see if the Full Charge Capacity is below the 80% Design Capacity (percentage bar on the lower portion within the app). Coconut Battery also has its own condition labels, but I'm not sure what they mean since I have not used this app except to check it out, but they likely provide a more useful indicator to how worn out the battery is.


You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. I'm not certain what the diagnostic would say if the battery's Full Charge Capacity is below 80%. I know that some battery hardware faults will not be noticed by the diagnostics.


If there does not appear to be a battery hardware fault, then you can ignore the "Service Recommended" condition until the battery does not perform to your satisfaction. You can also have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider run their service diagnostics to see if anything shows up (I would insist they run the Cooling Diagnostic in addition to the default MRI diagnostic which is usually the only one they run for customers).
