Getting conflicting messages from Compressor

Hi. I posted a few days back about my success with getting PCM audio on to a Blu-ray Disc using Compressor. That same method fails when trying to build a DVD with PCM audio in Compressor.

I set up a custom Create DVD destination by copying the default one, and then substituting AIFF audio for Dolby Digital. It failed.

So I tried other formats that could contain PCM audio: Apple Lossless, CAF, WAV. When I tried those, this is the error message I got when I started the batch:

It says I need AIFF or Dolby Audio. So I tried AIFF again. It failed again with this message:

That message says that my AIFF audio file is not compatible with the selected disc format. Imagine my confusion! 😀

These are the properties of that AIFF file that failed:

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Thanks!

PS: The DVD in question is a music video, shot in 4:3 SD and I'd like to keep the PCM audio instead of transcoding it to AC3. There's plenty of space on the DVD because it's only an 18-minute video. If I use AC3 audio in the default Create DVD destination, everything works as expected.
