What is the minimum amount of Apple ID password required for my child’s (under age 13) iPad when making an app or purchase download in App Store?

How can I limit the amount of required Apple ID password entries on my child’s iPad when downloading or purchasing an app in Apple Store?

Currently, we have to enter my child’s Apple ID password 4x.

1st entry - upon ‘Get’ on a free app.

2nd entry - Sign In

3rd entry - after parent approve the Ask To Buy restriction

4th entry - Sign In (again)

iPad mini 6 Wi-Fi, Cellular

Good day to you mrwma237,

We understand that you’re prompted for an Apple ID and password multiple times when using the Ask to Buy feature.

We would expect that an Apple ID password has to be entered at least twice. Once when the child account requests the purchase and once by the family organizer for their Apple ID if approving the request.

Let’s check something. On the child’s device in Settings > their name > Media & Purchases > Require Password are you able to edit settings here and if so, change them to require the password less often?
