Is the Precision Finding for AirTag doesn't work in Indonesia (Asia-Pacific region)?

Hi,

I have high hopes for AirTag when I bought it and attached to my keys, but apparently the Precision Finding in Find My app doesn't work as advertised...

I was hoping my iPhone 11 Pro will show the distance and direction like Apple showcased it in their website, which in the Find My app shown as a green colored arrow.

But instead, it is shown as blue colored arrow in my Find My app, screenshot below:

Is the Precision Finding only work in certain countries, and not in Indonesia?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 15

Hi Andy js,

You are right: Availability of Ultra Wideband for precision finding varies by country or region.

iPhone 11 Pro does support the Ultra Wideband necessary for "Find My" precision finding

However Ultra Wideband is subject to international regulatory requirements that require it to be turned off in certain locations.

Re: Ultra Wideband availability:

Devices equipped with the Apple-designed U1 chip have Ultra Wideband technology for spatial awareness.

See which countries and regions do not support Ultra Wideband:

NB: Indonesia is one of the countries listed where it is not available

Seems when Ultra Wideband is enabled, tracking of iPhone at all times is allowed.

All the best :-)

You're welcome!

Thank you for your reply, Andy js.

Sorry your country isn't allowing / using Ultra Wideband.

Precision Finding is only one aspect of AirTags.

The airTags may still prove useful ... many earlier iPhones don't access Ultra Wideband for precision finding either.

Apple Support have articles online to help get familiar with using airTags : your airTags may still be useful.

Eg: Set up your AirTag using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Set separation alerts in case you leave an AirTag or item behind in Find My on iPhone
