Best thing to do is to sell it and use the money toward a new one. For one, trade ins will be much less than you can sell privately. Also, Apple trade ins policy is generally that you can not trade in a current model for another current model. Example, you probably cannot trade in a 2020 MacBook Air on another MacBook Air with different specs, but you can trade in a MacBook Air on say the new 14" or 16" MacBook Pros he M1 Max and M1 Pro chips.
