My iPhone got Blacklisted!!!

I have been told this could be a known scam. Someone sells it without the blacklist. But they cannot claim insurance with a blacklist. They sell to you, THEN report blacklist to claim both your sales $$ and the insurance.

"he does not respond anymore". Scam or thief, most likely. Police can track using those email and phone nmuber where you cannot.

You have been ripped off, you can take legal action against the person who sold you the iPhone to recover your funds or you can contact Rogers and try to prove to them that you did not steal the iPhone and make a settlement with them to purchase the iPhone outright.

Threaten Rogers to take company/him to court legally via a registered mail if he can’t show you he sold you a legally purchased phone now it’s reported as stolen.. Sounds like he’s accepting and reselling stolen goods and you should file a police report on line. I’d send a registered letter to Apple too to ask for the contact for the original owner . Your phone signal carrier may be able to help you find out what to do too. Good luck!

This looks to be the same pattern as a fairly common insurance scam, and, well, you were seemingly scammed.

Nobody is going to help you with the ”deal” that you got here, other than the seller. The seller who has probably disappeared, if the usual pattern holds.

Then you should be able to file a theft report with law enforcement. If the police first level refuse to take your complain then ask for a supervisor. Or contact the prosecutor's office.

if this is a store or person you'll have to file in court against them. PD take reports but are typically not going to help in a fraudulent sale of stolen goods issue for one individual.

Do you have the model number? That would give an idea if it might have been a carrier locked iPhone at one time.

If it was an unlocked phone from Apple, I don't see any incentive for a seller to have it blacklisted. Is there the possibility that the seller sold you a stolen device that was then blacklisted?

Do you have Google on your computer? Just look up Toronto Law Enforcement agency. Or use Maps to find the closest station.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their Apple ID.

Just some legal generalities and not intended as criticism of you:

There are both criminal courts and civil courts. In civil court there does not need to be a provable criminal case, just some way the person wronged you. But then you have to pay a lawyer to start the process and there is always the chance the seller wins the case and you have to pay his/her court costs ... be prepared for it if you try. Sometimes it is better to learn the lesson and move on instead of incurring further risk, the way that people in a fender-bender with 15-year-old cars just part ways.
