How do I bring back files that have disappeared in trash ?

Recent files in the Trash can be restored using Local Snapshots.
I have Trash in my Finder side bar . You can also see Trash using the Shift Command . (period) to show hidden folder hidden by default.
the .Trash directory is located in your User/Home folder
From the TM icon in the upper right>Enter Tim Machine

On a Mac with an SSD drive, once the Trash is emptied, those files are GONE.
That is why their is so much drumming on the concept that you MUST have a back-up drive, and keep it up-to-date, such as by using time machine.

What are you trying to say: No files show up in your Trash can...?
This would be directory issue— you can delete the directory and renew it easily enough:
