I have a MacBook Air 2021 and I really want to play games on it but I am not sure if that is a good idea so I wanted to ask if steam is ok for the air and will it make the air slow for other times and will the games run fine?

If your MacBook Air has the M1 chip, it is incredibly capable. Steam should run perfectly fine, and your other apps won't suffer in performance.
