Ipad Air 4th Gen bent

Has anyone had observed their iPad Air bent and won’t turn on?

This is the case I’m on currently and Apple Customer Service in Philippines doesn’t want to replace the whole unit. Clearly it’s a faulty product but it’s frustrating that Apple doesn’t take responsibility. What a waste of money!

There isn’t either way to escalate it up. Apple customer service is bad. My family has been using Apple products for decades but when there’s issue they just don’t own it up.

I’ve just had the same issue after 3 years. Apple did not want to know just wanted buy it off me for £50 and sell me another for £350 😡😡. Mine was purchased from o2 on a air time contract that I’m still paying for so I went to O2 and they didn’t want know either but told me they are aware of them bending. After a lot of searching I came across consumer law as not fit for purpose. I contacted apple again who told me to go to my point of sale which is O2 and after quoting 5 year warranty under consumer law my iPad was exchanged for a re condition one. My iPad was also kept in a solid case, never been in a bag or a car and never damaged. A fine black line appeared that got wider and also battery charging was effected

I have the same model. It bent after about 3-4 months and then the lcd cracked. Apple told me it was accidental damage. It wasn’t, I looked after it the same as all my previous iPads. In the end I claimed on my home insurance and bought a new one. 6 months later it is now bent as well. Screen hasn’t cracked yet but if it bends much more it may well do. Won’t buy iPad Airs again. Not fit for purpose and Apple never accept responsibility for faulty products. Also my partner bought a Pro and the keyboard didn’t work properly and was unresponsive. I also had the same issue with an older Air I bought. Had to sell it on eBay in the end. Apple are an awful company who make awful hardware. Shame because their UI is so good.

Unfortunately unless their is proof of something internally causing this and you did not notice when you purchased and it’s months later. It’s typically going to be assumed it is from some sort of external force which means no warranty. Some reviews have indicated that the case material is pretty thin making it more prone to damage? Not sure about that, but aluminum is a soft metal that bends and iPads are thin.

The real issue is the iPad doesn’t turn on after overheating while charging. The diagnosis is because of the bent which we were not aware of before bringing to Apple Technical Centre. They said it’s probably due to swollen battery that cause the bent but they didn’t write that up in the report. They just said it’s bent and not included in the Limited Warranty.

It’s only 6 months new when that happened so waste of money if they cannot replace the product nor fix it at least.
