Why is my mail app duplicated

could be a bug.. Or you are allowed to drag out apps from the App Library multiple times. As long as they land on a different Home Screen they are left alone as duplicates. If you edit the Home Screen and drag one of them onto the same Home Screen as the other you will then have 2 identical icons side by side.
Just click/hold and select 'Remove from Home Screen' on one of them.
