My MacBook Pro w M1 chip (Monterey) continues to circulate through a restart after logging in. I’ll type in the username and password, the status bar appears like it’s about to log in to the profile then the screen goes black, the apple logo appears, the device runs the restart and I’m back to the login screen.
I’ve tried the following to troubleshoot this:
-restarted the device
-shutdown and reboot
-shutdown and reboot in recovery
-reinstalled Monterey (via recovery options)
-First Aid to Mac HD (via disk utility in recovery options)
-attempted Time Machine backup but no backups available for some reason
-cursed at the camera as if a Genius could hear me 😬
frustration levels are rising. Please help!!
Hmmm...fresh install, same issue. Not sounding good.
I would at least try a Safeboot— https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
Takes longer to get to the login screen, does a 5 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.
Login and test if you can. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.
This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
