can a 2017 27" imac be used as an external monitor for a 2020 Macbook Pro?

i saw a video of a 2009 27" imac being used as a monitor for an M1 2020 Macbook Pro laptop. Seems like there ought to be a way to use a new iMac in the same way. Would save me from buying a single purpose monitor, so i can see my yoga students on Zoom. Can't see them on the Macbook Pro with a small monitor screen.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Hi,

No, you can't, your iMac isn't supported as Target Display Mode.
