Low battery

Lately, my IPad’s battery has been draining faster than it used to. Last night, I turned the Ipad off at 62%. This morning, with no overnight use, it was at 5%! What is wrong?

You first need to establish if high battery utilisation is due to running Apps - or those that are updating in the background - or if you have a battery performance issue because your iPad battery is reaching the end of its usable life. Like all reachable batteries, they have a finite lifespan before they must be replaced.

This external page may offer some useful tips as to how to reduce your battery usage - and prolong the time that your iPad can be used before needing to recharge:

Recognising that your iPad has a battery life up to 10 hours in ideal conditions (being heavily influenced by screen brightness, CPU load, settings - and age of the battery) - if you are unable to improve battery life you might be well advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test.

You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and, where needed, offer appropriate advice:
