Hello- I need to update my macbook air. I have the OS x Yosemite and i'm guessing it needs to be updated to a different macOS operating system? However when i click on software update nothing comes up. It says i need 10.11.4 or later. HELP.

Is this a macOS operating system? I currently have the Yosemite & that's what is saying is totally out of date. Sorry, just want to make sure that's what I need to update everything!
That download is for the operating system direct download from Apple.
Okay- i just completed this download, ran it & installed, and it's still saying my computer is out of date.
When I click on software update nothing happens with my Mac
