Clearing Safari history on Childs iPhone/iPad

How do I clear history and website data in Safari settings on my child's iPhone/iPad? I have taken off content restrictions as described in several Apple support posts. Clear history is still greyed out. There is a big data usage number for Safari due to this and I can't clear it out. I don't really want to do a reset when this appears to be a simple solution, I just don't know what the solution is! I put restrictions on my my kids' phone and iPads so that they wouldn't look or see inappropriate websites, know this is crippling their device because the storage is full and I can't clear the Safari history.

Hi nicki271,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with clearing Safari history on a device with restrictions enabled. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

As you mentions and it states in the article here: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch "When there's no history or website data to clear, the setting turns gray. The setting might also be gray if you have web content restrictions set up under Content & Privacy Restrictions in Screen Time."

We'd also recommend attempting to clear history and storage from the iPhone storage page and the help of the steps here: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

You can also check Settings > Safari > Advanced to check and clear data. How to See and Remove All The Data Websites Have Saved on Your iPhone or iPad
