iPhone 12 mini volume button break?

I've seen lots of other people online having the same bug as me on their iPhone 12 mini: when pressing the volume button a single time, the phone maxes the volume to 100% (or 0%) as I'm locking it. Countless people are complaining about this on reddit, etc. and apparently getting their phones replaced (though it doesn't appear to help).

My question is, given this is an extremely dangerous bug (with airpods in I've hurt my ears a few times now, which I need...) can we push apple to actually do something? I genuinely think getting hearing damage from this could warrant a class-action, especially since the phone tells you to turn the volume down to a safe level, but will set it to max without being directed to. Aside from this, they have a responsibility to eventually fix this- again, this is a very dangerous bug that has persisted through every update. If anyone has a fix I will definitely try it, but I haven't found anything online.

Hi cullen116,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand when pressing the volume button it increases to 100%, and we'd like to assist. Have you updated to iOS 15.3 to see if the issue persists?

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists on the latest update, we recommend contacting Apple Support to look into this.
